Vitamin C Applied To The Skin Is Great! Most Products Containing It Are Not. This week I want to take a break from talking about supplements we can put in the body and talk about a beauty product I can’t live without. The product is by Decleor, a brand that is not that well known in this county and not readily available except online. I discovered them years ago and find their products to be of the highest quality and very good for my sensitive skin. In the coming weeks I’ll talk about other products I use of theirs, but today I want to introduce you to Aroma White C+. Before I go into this product specifically you need to have a couple of basics about vitamin C. The first thing you need to know about vitamin C is that when applied to the skin it stimulates collagen growth, which tightens and plumps up the skin. The second thing you need to know is that vitamin C has a short shelf life. What this means is that most of those expensive and not so expensive creams, lotions and serums containing vitamin C, (you know, the ones that tout how they tighten, smooth and rejuvenate skin) aren’t worth the bottle they’re packaged in. Why? Because vitamin C, being unstable, doesn’t stay active for long. Much of the time, that cream containing vitamin C isn’t even active the day you buy it. If it is active at all, by the time you open it and use it for the first time, it won’t be active for long. Decleor separates itself from the pack by packaging Aroma White C is such a way that you can be sure it is active. The serum comes in three separate vials, each vial should be used within ten days and (here’s the real clincher) you mix each vial with the active vitamin C just before use. This product is listed as a 30-day treatment for brightening the skin and evening out skin tone. That isn’t how or why I use it. I use it because when I do my skin looks tighter and younger. I’m 47 and I doubt there is a reputable surgeon out there that would allow me to undergo a facelift (not that I have any intention of it) because my skin is still tight. I think this product along with the exercise, Green’s First, and supplements is key in the look of my skin. In fact, one of the make-up artists on Guiding Light, the incredibly talented Helen Gallagher, was always amazed at the difference in my skin when I used this product. Which brings me to my next point. I also don’t use the product as a 30-day treatment, as it is labeled. I use it all the time. Periodically, I won’t want to spend the money on this product (it’s not cheap) so I will go without for a couple of weeks. Ultimately though, I always end up biting the bullet and ordering it because my skin just looks so much better when I use it. To cut down on the expense a bit, I do use each vial longer than 10 days. I probably get 20 days out of each vial. No, it isn’t as active by the end, but I try to help in stretching the active life by refrigerating it. It is a little hard to find, even in places that carry a lot of Decleor products—I always end up having to search—so here is a link directly to my product page at Amazon. I also use a few other Decleor products along with some other brands that I will be talking about in coming weeks. To make it easier for people to find those products either to purchase or to learn more about, I’ve set up some beauty pages with Amazon. On these page you will find all my favs (skin care and make up) in one place. As always I only recommend products I use regularly and wouldn’t be without. Enjoy! Beth
